Dual MPA Degrees

The MPA at Sciences Po is part of a pioneering global network that brings together five of the world's premier teaching and research institutions at the cutting edge of the current thinking on global public policy.

Paris: Sciences Po
New York: the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University
London: the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
Singapore: the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore (LKY SPP)
Berlin: the Hertie School of Governance (HSoG)

What better locations to study than in these global cities? Our five-way dual MPA degree is a unique opportunity to take advantage of the complementary curricula offered by the five institutions. Selected students spend their first year in Paris followed by their second year in London, New York, Singapore, or Berlin and receive two MPAs - one from each institution they attend.

In a similar fashion, students starting at either SIPA, LSE, LKY SPP or HSoG may decide to do their second year at Sciences Po in order to obtain the dual MPA.

Exchange Opportunities

Students in the MPA at Sciences Po also have the opportunity to study for a semester or year-long exchange at the four partner institutions.

The Network

The Global Public Policy Network, with LSE, Sciences Po, SIPA, and LKY SPP at its core, is an international association of research universities offering graduate-level public policy education and dialogue with policymakers. All are committed to harnessing top academic talent to address the most pressing policy issues of the 21 st Century. The network is global in two senses: it includes institutions from around the world; and the policy issues at the center of their research and teaching are of global extent.

The central feature of the GPPN is that all its member institutions link what they teach and the research they carry out on major global public policy issues. Members of the GPPN link with each other in different policy research and teaching areas in the following ways:

  • Student exchanges allowing students to study at more than one member institution;
  • Faculty exchanges and team teaching;
  • Long term collaboration in public policy research;
  • Development of case study projects: comparative and international;
  • International training programs for mid-career professionals;
  • Dialogues with policymakers.

The GPPN will expand its links to public policy graduate schools in key global cities worldwide. New institutions will be committed to all activities listed above.

GPPN schools will deepen their research and teaching cooperation in key emerging global policy fields such as economic development, environmental policy, global governance, and public management. They will also convene "Regional Public Policy Forums" to cooperate with other public policy graduate schools, scholars, practitioners, and policymakers.

In 2007, the 2nd GPPN conference will be hosted by LKY SPP in Singapore in October.

The GPPN held its inaugural conference in Paris in October 2006.

Program details for GPPN conferences are available on the GPPN web site.
